Singapore In Technical Recession
With the current financial crisis and chaos hitting the world market, is Singapore in technical recession?
Singapore economic data shows that Singapore entered a technical recession. Recent report in the Singapore Straits Time show Singaporeans have begin tightening their belt by cutting back on dining out at restaurants and going for food that gives better value for money at hawker centres.
The other choice is going for home-cooked meals. This shift in trend has seen increase in sales at supermarkets and wet markets for uncooked food. Shoppers have also changed their choice of purchase going for more frozen than fresh food and cheaper items for their cooking pots.
I wonder if any study have been done at Singapore Pools (Singapore Pools is a legal lottery operator incorporated by the Singapore) to see if they are facing a slow down too? From my point of view without basis of any studies, my take would be the number of punters trying their luck should be going up.
Recession or not some habits don’t change, punters are always trying their luck at lottery and sports betting because it’s recession free and prizes not affected by the financial crisis. Betting a small sum of money despite the odds and hoping to strike in rich and fast is something everyone is wishing for.
