Some photos to share, taken from my room during the Loy Krathong Festival in Chiang Mai Thailand 2007. With the Loy Krathong festival coming up in Thailand soon, falling on Nov 12th, it has brought back some memories of my holiday last year.

The hotels there are kind of packed during that period so I suggest you book early to avoid disappointment although I am not so sure about the situation this year with the current world financial turmoil.

Stayed at the Bossotel Inn Hotel, Chiang Mai. It is located across the railway station. Situated near the famous Mae Ping River, which runs through Chiang Mai, the Bossotel Inn Hotel, Chiang Mai is only a short drive from the busy city center, main shopping and entertainment areas as well as tourist sites.

We stayed at the condo wing behind the hotel, got a big suite with 2 bedrooms that serve my needs. Wonderful view of the city on the other side of the river.

Photos mainly of fireworks and Kom Fai (cannot be seen clearly in the photos). Kom Fai (lighted paper balloons) fills the sky (streaks of orange light in the photos) but cannot be seen clearly in the photos. Nice view of the city from my room.

Didn’t take many photos (they didn’t come out right) at the riverside where there were plenty of people releasing their Krathongs into the river and the shooting of fireworks. A word of caution, the river side is not a place to be if you are with children. Personal safety is questionable with fireworks and crackers going off in different directions. Didn’t stay long because of that and I have my kids in tow.

Nevertheless, the Loy Krathong Festival is Chiang Mai is a wonderful time to be there. So if you are in Thailand during that time with some time to spare, why not head there to see the sites for yourself.
