Once again the year is drawing to a close and for many, it’s time to sit back and look back at the year and also look forward at the same time. So with the new year round the corner, have you made any resolutions for 2011 yet or made a to do list?

Some of the top resolutions that I can think of are, lose weight, quit smoking, spend less and save more money, spend more time with your family, get married, make babies, personal development, save for retirement, live life to the fullest. I do not personally make resolutions but these are just some of the thoughts at the back of my mind and not necessary in the order mentioned above. Some of them are resolutions that I come across are some that I see, regularly year after year where that don’t seem to change much. Anyway, we only have so much time on our hand. We can manage time but cannot make more time.

Lose weight.
This is on most people’s resolution list. In my opinion, Weight is just a number and round is a shape. Life is short and my take on this topic, we don’t know how long we are going to live and even though we try to live a healthy life and prolong it as long a we can, there are certain factors that is really beyond our control. The point is, move on with life and not worry too much.
It’s ironic that the beginning of life is also the beginning of death. Some who have heard my remarks say I’m pessimistic but it’s a fact and I’m being realistic. Anyway, back to the topic of losing weight. For those that are keen on losing weight, there are some diet programs on the internet that have been popular and successful as proclaimed by many who have followed them. Some of them are pretty interesting.
Check out this site if you do think of losing some weight called The Diet Solution Program. It sounds kind of interesting and I am contemplating buying this program and following it. For those who have tried it, please let me know if it works for you. I have seen some programs but there are not quite geared for the Asian diet, some of the food listed are difficult to find because it’s not something that we eat regularly

Quit smoking.
This has always been a challenge for many. Despite all the warnings about danger associated with smoking, many find quitting difficult. For some, why quit? I m going to die anyway regardless whether I smoke or don’t smoke. I have to admit that I have the same attitude and I agree with this point to a certain extend. Why? Because it’s ok if you die peacefully and quickly because of your smoking and not some prolong illness like lung or throat cancer. That could result in very high medical expenses to help you cure your illness.

It can be done although the road may be long and tough and may take several attempts before you finally succeed.
I have a site just on quit smoking. For your info, I was once a smoker and I managed to quit and have not touch a cigarette for almost 14 years now. If you are interested, you can find out more at http://myquitsmokingsecrets.com.

Make Babies
Seriously how many out there would like to have the ability to choose the gender of your child before he or she is conceived? Play god! What is going to happen if more opt for one gender over the other? We are going to have a global in-balance of the sexes over time and they may not be the best. But then again, with the rising cost of living and people with their own idea of what an ideal family should be and planning to start one, the ability to choose the gender of their baby is definitely a good one. There are for and against on this topic and I came across a site recently with a Singaporean couple (I’m one too) providing a testimonial on the page about how successful they were selecting the gender of their babies by following the program. You can check it out at http://chooseyourbabysex.com

Get married
With the subject of making babies, getting married usually comes before that. Although I must say that may not be the norm in some countries but that’s what practised here in Singapore.
I wonder if it’s common to give a speech during your wedding but where I am at, it’s not that common and most are not prepared for it when called upon to give one. I did a search recently and was surprised that with what’s available at this site, goodweddingspeeches.com promoting speeches for the groom, bride, bestman, maid of honor, father of the bride, mother of the bride. Does everyone practically have to give a speech of some sort? Well, I guess you have to be if that’s the norm.

That’s all I have about things to do and resolutions for 2011. Good luck to all in your endeavour.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a healthy and safe 2011.
