I am writing this article on what you need to know about promoting clickbank products as an internet marketing newbie because there are some things that you need to take note of.
Clickbank is one of the most popular affiliate program for internet marketing newbies to start with because it’s very easy to get accepted and it’s also th world’s largest provider of digital products with over 30,000 products to promote.
Not everyone is going to tell you this, even your course instructor if you have signed up for some internet marketing class or other courses that you have signed up online because it may just discourage you right from the start if it’s make known. I learned the hard way, I attended a course and the instructor didn’t forewarned us and I have myself to blame too for not reading the guidelines thoroughly too. So what are some of things you need to know about promoting clickbank products as an internet marketing newbie?
Clickbank affilate payment
You get paid only when you have reach the payment threshold. This is a pre-determined account that you can select and set in your account. Default setting is $100.
But you have to take note that there’s a $2.50 processing fee to go along with that and you are only eligible to enroll for direct deposit after 2 paper check payments for affiliates inside United States and the same applies to international affiliates.
International affilates please take note that there is usually an check clearance fee when you try to deposit your Clickbank paycheck into your account. Bank charges varies so please check with your respective bank first and you may want to set your payment threshold higher to make sure clearing the check is worth it.
I was very happy to receive my first paycheck 2 years ago and then found about all the extra charges only when I went to bank in my cheque 
so I hope you don’t follow in the same footstep as me. I now set my payment threshold to be much higher than what I initially set.
Of course you would like to receive your first paycheck as proof of your work but then you also have to take note of other conditions before that can happen and it that can be found in Clickbank Customer Distribution Requirement
ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
- Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers; and,
- Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, PayPal or European Direct Debit(ELV)).
Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.
Believe the above requirement is to discourage Affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate program by purchasing products through their own affiliate link to enjoy a discount for their own purchase.
Clickbank Dormant Accounts
Accounts with a positive balance but no earnings for an extended period of time are considered dormant. Dormant accounts are subject to a charge of $1 per pay period after 90 days of no earnings, $5 per pay period after 180 days of no earnings, and $50 per pay period after 365 days of no earnings.
There are also other allowances where your commission pay out may not be the full amount because Clickbank keeps a fraction of each payment to you that is credited back to your account after 12 weeks. This is to facilitate for the return of product that may have quality issues purchased through your affiliate link. All clickbank product has a 60 days money-back guarantee.
So all in all, I hope this is an eye opener for internet marketing newbie going into promoting clickbank products. This is not to discourage you but I would say that Clickbank may be the most popular and easiest to join, it could also turn out to be one of the more difficult affiliate service provider for internet market newbie to get their full commission.
